Perhaps those who like the thought of fighting in Terminator suits also like the thought of fighting in something.............slightly bigger !
(It takes a couple of minutes to download, but worth the watch) http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/18954/...nix_70709.html Edit: To change link to something less Beersheba-ish and more Mechwarrior-ish

"The light horsemen - Battle for Beersheba part 2"?
Somehow I don't think that's related to Mechwarrior...

Nice match up a 80 ton warhammer vs a 100 ton atlas. Hope this game has the marader and battlemaster mechs. warhammer pilot should have aimed for the cockpit anyway

AMAZING!,I thought that the mechwarrior franchise was over after MW4:mercs,I guess not.
Apparently they decided to reboot the story,so it starts in 3015 again. If it follows the fluff,it means that the only omnimechs will be in hands of the Clans, the Inner Sphere only managed to reverse-engineer that technology around 50-60 years later. Of course, the developers could also decide that, after the reboot of the series, everyone developed omnimechs at the same time or that omnimech technology won't be discovered at all... Anyway, the game looks great,I can't wait

IIRC in Battletech canon the Clans have not encountered Inner Sphere in 3015.
Unless Clan-specific mechs are confirmed, the game is likely going to stick with Inner Sphere tech (and possibly early stuff at that).

I actually kind of wonder how the game will be received should they go in that direction as it would almost certainly result in fewer options for the player with all the super fancy tech not around. Of course it's been a while since the last game, so it could be that they're banking on a combination of people having short memories and the die hard battletech fanatics loving a throwback to the days of yore. And Dawnreaver, the Battlemaster and the Marauder both fit within the era the game is supposedly set in. So I reckon there's quite a good chance of seeing them. |

In addition, it would also be far more balanced for online play, as Level 2 and 3 techs offer a lot more opportunity for min-maxing. Of course, if the mech customization system is that developed, I can't wait to port my WarMaster custom...

From what I understand, the game will incorportae an experience system whereby if you pilot the same 'Mech for a long period, not only will you be more familiar with it's conrtols and Idiosyncrasies, physically, the software will also increase your chances of hitting as well. Also, you will supposedly be able to play the same scenario's in different 'Mechs and have different goals depending on what your 'Mechs role in that scenaio is, as opposed to your Lance mates. So you could be piloting an Atlas with the goal of assaulting a small base, as a part of a Lance, then you could play the same mission, in say a Raven, and your goal would be too do recon on the base before the assault. Apart from a strong single player story line, they will also be incorporating multi-player and on-line play.
As far as the time-line goes, yeah 3015 is well before the Clans arrival, they arrived in the Inner Sphere in 3049. So the first game will be all Inner Sphere 'Mechs and Tech. The developers did mention in an interview that they would be providing free on-line updates and content for minor things but would leave major things for an expansion. That must mean that they have ideas for future expansions which could include other House factions, Mercenary factions, more 'Mechs/Tech and some time down the line an expansion or two which include the Clans. The game looks awesome, apparently it is using the same engine as for Call of Duty 4. The only reservation I have at this point is that they are making it for both the PC and Xbox 360. Having to dumb down the controls so that the Xbox 360 controller can handle it may mean we see a loss of control on the PC......maybe not, who knows.... |

Last MW I played was MW2, but I might bite into this one once it's released...that video brings back so many memories...I think the first mini I owned and even painted was a Catapult, all painted in some old (and ugly) citadel purple worm color...Wonder where I have my battletech box nowadays...I stopped playing the game more or less with the release of all that fancy 3050 stuff, the earlier basic game was my thing. Doubt I ever used a double-heat sink in the tabletop...So I'm eager to play this 3015 thing and teach those sneaky kurita a lesson!!
AC20 in your face!! Bunch of geeks in these forums!!! |

*fridge moment*
Would it be too much of a stretch to postulate that the game might actually cover several different time periods (and thereby tech levels) of the BT universe? Crescent Hawks' Revenge did that before (if any of you remember that game, of course). Because that thing the Warhammer fired in the trailer looked awfully like an Active Probe to me, and these are L2...

Yeah it's possible it could be set over a large time period or a range of time periods.
Here is an interview with the guys who are making it, it's pretty indepth at 6 pages long but gives you a good idea where they are going with it. http://au.pc.ign.com/articles/100/1002164p1.html |

It would be cool if it spaned multiple times periords but if it doesn't there's always a chance of uncovering some ancient star leauge tech.
I think the story may also concern one of the succsetion wars because i beleave there were at least 4 so good story there but i haven't read anything from the link posted yet so i only speculate
