![]() Was thinking of going very 90 and 45 degrees in the window shapes. Currently solid colors on the border of the windows but could be slightly transparent and the middle area are much more transparent with a horisontal lined pattern. Buttons on top making it possible to switch between different data representations when/if needed. If the window is showing information regarding a specific entity on the map (or ingame if we go with the same layout for ingame) a small box extends out from the window to highlight this entity. Window design is made to be possible to be on both left and right side of the highlighted entity. Feedback on the basic layout design? Colors? ...?

Maybe need a bit more contrast in the edges of the window. I'll see what I can do.

If you want contrast, how about a blood-red or something militar-green? Just an idea.

Maybe the windows could be colored green for friendly, red for hostile and blue/grey for neutral. I just don't want it to look like a disco.

Background is very placeholder and will not look like that. But it will look like space.
Triangles are icons for ships, friendly and hostile. Another test. But we'll go green instead of bluish. |

One thing about the windows: could they have a plain black background, with white BIG-size letters? I hate the small-size letters in AA1. |

Is the font in the test screen too small (5 pixels height)?
I guess we could make so the game can use 3 different font sizes and the whole GUI adjusts to these heights. It is a bit more complicated but we still would need to do some of these fixes (width) if we are going to support different languages. |

I've downloaded the image and opened it "like fullscreen". Yes, for me is too small.

Fullscreen as in scaling it to fill the screen? The image should not be stretched/scaled. 1 pixel should be one pixel.
But we'll see what can be done... |

That font is just on the edge of readability for me on 1024x768. Seeing that a lot of people tend to run their desktops higher than that nowadays... yeah, can see how that could be an issue.

The 5 pixel font is most likely the smallest we'll use. We'll see where we'll use it. In AA1 we used it in the ingame stats wimdow.
