THIS THREAD IS FOR EVERYONE TO POST THEIR GRAPHICS FOR REGULAR SPACE MARINES

Hey,

I'm starting to work on some regular SM graphics for AA. Well just started few mins ago, and I have a question.

Are the size proportions correct?
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/4742/61292521.png

Should my SM be a bit taller? The very top of my SM is a backpack, head is located a bit lower.

Well termies in AA seems to not be standing straight (legs are not straight, but it's ok, termies are always shown as standing in not straight poses).

I'm using chart from the link below as a comparison (8" SM and 9" termie, they have heads on the same level).

Hope you'll understand my English ;P

Tomek

Looking good! Mods like this make me want to add different weapons and action cost tables...*drool*

Keep up the good work!

Anyone interested in summing up all the rule changes needed for the "junior squads" to play as maybe another game or board game. ;)

Woah i like it, it's a great idea:thumbsup:. Regular marines facing hordes of genestalers/aliens, with regular equipment, no more "Storm bolter"..
It also sounds a bit like a suicide for the poor marines xD:lol:.

But is it possible to hit even WORSE than with a Storm Bolter?

Is the Power Armour Summary correct?

Looks odd that walking forward and firing cost 2 AP, same as walking backward and firing. Also set overwatch cost 2 AP.

Adding the missile launcher would be something we could easily do, but adding granades...I'm not sure. Another weapon on the soldiers is the reason we didn't add the captain, would mess up everything.

Personally, if regular marines were added, I'd like to see it done so that if there are two marines, one behind each other, the rear marine doesn't have his LOS/LOF blocked by the one in front, reflecting the fact that power armour is smaller than terminator armour. Maybe make that 3 marines, but that might be pushing it. Would help make up for the lack of a storm bolter and the total lack of CC ability.

Power Armor doesnt have all the benefits of the Terminator (or Tactical Dreadnaught) Armor, which includes a better targetting array in the HUD of the helmet, gyro-stabilised weapon systems, sensoric arrays in the suit and of course the fact that TDA is basically a walking weapon platform with a marine in it :fighting:

A Terminator can easily walk of rubble without loosing aim on a moving target, since the suits systems support aiming and firing while walking. A Terminator doesnt feel any recoil of the Stormbolter, he basically just has to aim at the target beacon and press the firing stud, while the suits war-spirits keep track of the target.

So in summary, yes, a Power-Armored Marine should pay more for walk and fire, since the warrior in side the suit has to make up for the less-powerful weapon-systems and sensorics.

Also, im back 8)

But what's the point of walk-and-fire if it cost as much as walk and then fire? :) The idea with walk-and-fire is that you can do two actions for the cost of one.

Brother Nay

Power-Armor shouldnt be Terminator-Armor with a different skin.

It shows the superiority of the TDA, but since theres a rule for WaF, it must be covered for Power Armor, even if the dont really benefit from it ;)

Checked to the WD120 article scan. The summary is in error.

I still think they should pay more...

Horseman: Feel free to show me the light (give me the correct values).

Brother Nay: They pay way more by having worse weapons and armour.

Power armor marines should get more action points to symbolize how they are less bulky and more agile,

Currently I'm working on the Blood Angels 3rd Company Captain:
http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/4672/marineswip.png

Which shoulder pads for regular SM's are looking better? (Straight/narrow)
Shades & highlights are ok?

Any suggestions? Criticism is welcome :]

Also what do you think about the colour? Tabletop versions:
Blood Angels Captain (http://www.coolminiornot.com/100362)
Captain Tycho (http://www.coolminiornot.com/110186)

Concerning rules (it's only my opinion):

- SM should have more AP, but lesser firepower and melee skill.
- Don't forget that Artificier Armor is usually better than the Terminator Armour (Aritificier = SM special armor, like this captain's).
- no LOS blocking if marine is "blocking" LOS (I know, this sentence sounds weird)
- don't forget, that Power Fist is unwieldy, power sword, axe, mace should have some bonus (or just remove penalty if any due to SM inferior skills)

DUDE DEATHWATCH that would be awesome and it would fit as well

I'm still working on the marine, but my work is slowed down now (had to return graphics tablet, and now I won't use it often :/).

However I'll try to finish this project asap :]

My dad and I have played around with having Space Marines in SH missions at home. We find that the following rules work alright

- a Space Marine squad is made up of 10 marines, including 1 seargent, and a specialist with a hvy weapon
- Space Marines are primarily equipped with a Bolter, which rolls 1 die as opposed to the Storm Bolter's 2
(same "to hit" rules apply between both weapons).
- Because of their weaker armor, Space Marines in melee combat lose to Genestealers on a tie.
- Space Marine sgts and Terminator sgt technically have the same melee skill in WH40k, so we give
Space Marine sgts the same +1 bonus in melee.
- A space marine wouldn't bring a missle launcher on a spacehulk... thats just dumb. But a standard flamer
will do the trick most of the time. Just like a Hvy flamer, but hits on a 3 instead of a 2.
- A specialist can also take a Hvy Bolter, which is like an Assault Cannon in every way, except it hits on 6's
- Space Marines have 5 AP and can move backwards with 1 AP instead of 2.

As I said, these work for us. Its cool to set up meat grinder missions with these rules, especially with 2 squads. 20 Space Marines can go just as fast as 10 Terminators, if not faster in some cases.

Here's the Blood Angels 3rd Company Captain (Still needs some polishing :P).
Opinions please :)

Head is based on heads from the new Blood Angels, so it can look quite similiar (don't wanna get accused of stealing others work :P)

Looking really good!

I really hope this gets implemented into AA as a game mechanic, too, especially the whole "weaker forces, but less LOF blocking"... the main thing I've found so hard playing AA (and had forgotten from SH, which I always remembered as being quite hard) is that the narrow 1-square corridors and fact your marines block LOF and cannot pass each other!

Being able to field a (larger?) squad of weaker marines, but who can push past each other or at least shoot over their comrade's shoulders would make a big tactical difference... do I want "tanks" or do I want lighter troops?

Don't want to spoil your wish but ... Marines (not Terminators) still block LOF. Only the Imperial Guard can go on one knee, and allow two guys to fire, but those don't wear any armor worth the name.

Thanks for opinions, but I felt the lack of criticism :)

Please post rule-related posts here (http://teardown.se/forum/showthread.php?t=1024).

We will have all thoughts, not mixed with graphics, in one place :]

I have a question:

I am not a wh40k buff, do space marines have shields and hammers?

the_Fifth_Horseman
03-11-2013, 06:21
Back when I still collected 40k stuff, they were available to power armored characters as an option. Not as standard squad equipment, though.

Hey, I just did some research, and I found units like Honour Guard and Assault Squads.

What will you do?
