Trying to get (some of) my pride back, I abandoned the Infestation campaign, and started playing Sin of Damnation. Feels a bit easy now that I've been through the Infestation pain

It came the turn to play Decoy. mission objective: escape with 5 marines. I know the mission by heart, the only mystery was what would the new AI do, and how badly the downgraded flamer would cost me ...

So far, so good. The mission runs as usual, only with higher flamer ammo consumption. My 5 marines line up, covered with one flamer in front, one in the back ... they teleport away, and the 5 remaining guys take defensive positions to survive the last GS turn.

But then ... wait! Who said LAST turn? The new teleporter setup will keep the mission going until everyone is away, or everyone else is dead! :scared:

So I had the unique opportunity to play a whole new mission: you have 5 marines in defensive positions at the back of the map, and your flamer has only 1 shot left ... escape with as many as you can

It was challenging, and I'm happy to say all of my guys made it, mainly thanks to the move & fire. Two missions for the prize of one ... will keep that in mind the next time I play an "escape" mission :knowledge:

I'm lovin' it!

Good job on saving those marines  I must say that move & fire is an excellent addition once you learn how to utilize it properly. I'll get to the old campaigns again tomorrow, now that I've finished Infestation.

I must say that move & fire is an excellent addition once you learn how to utilize it properly.I know that feeling. It took me about 12 months to learn to walk first and then shoot for free after playing without that feature during development of TDSH V1.0. I guess you now suffer from the exact same problem. Old habits are hard to change. ;)

I know the feeling ... every so often I find myself facing a door after having walked 6 squares towards it ... and I think: why is this door still here? Because you forgot to shoot at it at every step! This happened *a lot* in Cleanse & Burn ... such a nice long corridor, full of closed doors.

BTW, one addition of AA 1.0 that was not heavily advertised is that Falmer & OW range is now limited to 12 squares ... this limitation did not quite work in TDSH v1.0. Keep that in mind!
