i was playing as the space marines my cousin chaos maines he had 8 marines and a chaos lord myself 1 chaplain 1 librarian 1 captain and 5 veterans cut a small story short (cause i only remember the end results) my veterans decimated his marines his chaos lord killed my chaplain and librarian i had one vet left and my capt and kicked his arse woo
It was years since I last played the boardgame.. so my memory has failed me.. I do however remember that Niklas and I had furious psycic combats between the librarians and hybrids when playing his home-made missions and that I spent more time giving my marines names and decoration on my flowsheet than actually caring about the mission...
I know this is a spacehulk forum but this one time.. My friend had bought and painted a 6000 point necron army. He had 2 monoliths, a pylon, the nightbringer, and shed loads of other units. He had played once, been beaten and decided they were rubbish. We challenged him to let us play with them against an equal combined force of marines. BA's, Ultra's, salamanda's, a full armoured column, even some grey knight termi's.
We held the monoliths and flayed ones in reserve, everyone else held a defensive line. If our opponents had used their lascannons to snipe our big stuff , we would have HAD to advance. But they didn't, they deep-struck all 30 of their terminators in front of our line. Every man-jack necron and 1 star god unleased hell and 30 of the emporers finest got glooped where they stood, in one round of fire:fighting:.
Their moral shattered, the noose was closed. Both monoliths descended into the massed ranks of the astartes, fired thier wibbly electro ray (not the kak-oom blast the other thing) and discorged the flayed ones. A Landraider was suprised by 10 bases of scarabs and got MUNCHED! Destroyers swept majesticaly across no-man's land taking targets of opportunity. The last heavy bolter marine was cut down by the destroyer lord at the start of turn 7 or 8 I can't remmember, we lost 1 monolith and about 20 flayed-ones.
and that was the best tabletop battle I ever had.

Personally? Discounting the Apocalypse games, probably last week...
it was about 1,800 points, my Blood Angels successors(With Commander Adonai, Dante clone) Vs... not sure, looked like Black Legion Chaos Marines with Typhus in command.
All in all it went well, Dante and his Honour guard just annihilated Typhus and his Terminators, the Assault marines destroyed most of the infantry, and it was an impressive finish...
Chaos Vindicator vs. 3 Marines, 2 with Boltguns and one Heavy Bolter. The 3 Marines won, eventually, with a lot of luck...
They had to charge across the board while it still had it's Demolisher cannon, and then work around the whole "No Meltabombs and forgot they had Krak Grenades" situation.
Edit: Oh, and if anyone knows of a more impressive thing than a Space Marine immobilising a Vindicator with his bare hands, then I want to hear it... If it's actually happened in the game. Only thing to remember is i find that more impressive than a lone Death Company marine destroying a Brass Scorpion in one turn with just his sword.

My Leman Russ killing itself with a hilarious scatter? Impressive, if not neccessarily fun at the time.
I had a very funny battle this morning while playtesting. It was one of those missions littered with hidden ventilation's. The whole place was crawling with Genestealers who ambushed my poor marines in the back killing them off one by one and then rushing off into the vents again. (I really love the new AI)
Unable to advance any further until I hade killed a few of my foes I set a trap. One of my marines acted as decoy to lure them out. He was standing 6 squares away so I knew he wouldn't get killed but in the Genestalers turn they poured out from their hideout and was standing in his face. Two blips converted into six menacing stealers and so it was my turn again. My brave marine took one step back and finally my flamer had a clear shot. In the 1.1 there is 1/6 that a stealer will survive a flamer-shot but with one single burst every enemy in that room was killed in an instant. This bought me enough time to seal the last entrance and complete the mission.
Years back I played Combat Cars (http://www.boardgamegeeks.com/boardgame/2368) with two friends. They ganged up on me and had me and my car pretty damaged out but managed to get away, let them go at each other and then I came back, lanuched a rocket in the side of one of them killing him then crashing into the other in full speed killing him to! Still remember the feeling and the evil lauch that came out of me... "MO HA HA HA HA HAaaaaaah" :fighting:
A friend of my brother's saw what was the perhaps cheesiest eldar army in a tournament, and decided he could do that too. Unloaded some 100 euros into a brightlance heavy army with two fire prisms (yea that's right). Even before painting one single model, he wanted to whip my deathwing army.
1500 pts game, I had an LRC packed with my command squad (melee heavy), and 3 footslogging terminator squads, backed by a dreadnaught.
My Land Raider soaked up all the bright lances, and lost all of it's weapons, but by the time it finally broke down (may the machine spirit forgive me) my command squad was in cc range. Let's just say fire prisms die really fast to thunder hammers. Also note that I conveniently forgot to mention the unspectacular loss of my dreadnaught turn 1 shot 1. X(
