It's still happening, but I've noticed something interesting. I'm now on a dual-monitor setup, and whenever this happens, I get a small, unexpandable window in the second monitor. I've moved the window to my primary monitor, but here's what it looks like.
I also see the same window flash up on the secondary screen when I load the game.
